Lennox gear chosen for salt, tides and houses without ducts
Cook's sells Lennox and works out of Palm Coast. The tiles below aren't the whole catalog; they're the pieces that earn their place in a St. Augustine house, and this page explains the filter we apply.

The filter this town puts on a catalog
A manufacturer’s catalog means little until you hold it up against the house it’s going into. St. Augustine’s filter is unusually strict: salt air on three sides of the island and along the whole bayfront, tidal flooding that reaches equipment pads downtown and in Davis Shores a dozen or more times a year, a historic core where ductwork was never part of the building and the preservation board decides what the street can see, and FPL, whose instant rebate applies only to equipment above its efficiency threshold.
So what we specify here skews toward a few things: corrosion-resistant outdoor units, ductless and small-duct systems, variable-speed air handlers that control humidity in leaky old houses, and Healthy Climate air quality pieces for the mold that a May-to-October wet season encourages.
Which pieces matter in which neighborhood
- Mini-split systems for Lincolnville, the Abbott Tract, Model Land and the Colonial Quarter, where there’s no path for ducts and the exterior has to stay quiet.
- Air handlers and complete systems with corrosion options for Vilano, Lighthouse Park, Treasure Beach and Crescent Beach, often on raised platforms.
- Heat pumps and zoning systems for the two-story floor plans at World Golf Village, Murabella and Palencia, where one thermostat rarely serves both floors well.
- Humidifiers and dehumidifiers, air filtration and Lennox’s Healthy Climate pieces for 1920s plaster-and-lath homes in Fullerwood Park and Nelmar Terrace that soak up summer moisture.
- Thermostats with humidity sensing for second homes in Marsh Creek and the Shores that sit empty all summer.
Matching the set, registering the warranty
On resale houses in the Shores and St. Augustine South, the fault we see most often is an indoor and outdoor unit that were never meant for each other. Pair them properly and the Lennox set runs quieter, wrings out more moisture and carries a warranty as a system rather than as parts. Because we’re the dealer, we register that warranty ourselves at install, which is the step builders and departed contractors most often skipped on the 2000s subdivisions.
Before the proposal is written
Which Lennox outdoor units hold up on Anastasia Island?
The ones ordered with corrosion-resistant coil and cabinet options, mounted where the prevailing salt air isn’t hitting the fins directly, and rinsed on a schedule. We specify that configuration for the island, Vilano and the bayfront as a matter of course.
Do you carry equipment small enough for a Lighthouse Park cottage?
Yes. Single-zone and multi-zone ductless systems scale down to a single room, and compact air handlers fit closets that a standard cabinet won’t. Oversizing a small house is a bigger mistake here than undersizing, because an oversized unit cools the thermostat so fast it never gets around to the moisture.
Is a Lennox heat pump enough for the frost nights here?
Comfortably. Winter lows average in the high 40s with a handful of frosts, and a heat pump with backup electric strips carries that while doing the real work of nine months of cooling. The record cold of the mid-1980s is the exception a strip heater exists for.
- All productsThe whole Lennox lineup, sorted by the three questions buyers ask before they ask about brands.
- Air conditionersStraight-cool systems, sized for the house you have and the ducts it can actually hold.
- FurnacesAn honest comparison for a town where winter is a few cold mornings, not a season.
- Heat pumpsOne machine for a nine-month summer and a four-frost winter. Who it fits, how it is sized, what FPL pays back.
- Air handlersThe indoor unit that moves the air, holds the coil, drains the water and, in Davis Shores, needs to sit above the flood line.
- BoilersAlmost nobody here has one. If you do, this page is for you, without the padding.
- Garage heatersFor the woodworkers and restorers on acreage. For most St. Augustine garages, honestly, a different answer.
- GeothermalA system with no outdoor unit to rust, sized for acreage lots west of the city.
- Mini-splitsHeating and cooling for the houses that were never built for ducts, placed to satisfy the preservation board.
- Packaged systemsOne cabinet outside, for the houses and storefronts with nowhere inside to put an air handler.
- Air-cleaning equipmentDehumidifiers, filtration, purification, UV and ventilation, ranked by what they save in this climate.
- DehumidifiersWhole-home dehumidifiers for leaky old houses and tight new ones. Humidifiers for the handful who truly need one.
- Air filtrationMedia cabinets, electronic air cleaners and bypass HEPA units, chosen for live-oak pollen and salt haze.
- VentilationEnergy-recovery ventilators for houses sealed too tight to breathe, which around here means the new ones.
- Healthy ClimateThe Lennox indoor air line, matched to what a bungalow, a block ranch and a stucco two-story actually put in the air.
- Complete systemsOutdoor unit, indoor unit and controls, matched and sized together, for the houses whose builder-grade systems are aging out at once.
- Ultimate Comfort SystemThe top of the Lennox line: variable-capacity equipment, purification, zoning and a communicating thermostat, installed as one job.
- ZoningDampers and separate thermostats for the two-stories, additions and Florida rooms that one thermostat can't hold.
