The shape of a Cook’s offer

Cook’s is family-owned and writes its own promotions, so they follow the St. Augustine year rather than a franchise schedule. They tend to come in three forms:

  • Pre-season tune-up pricing, in the window between the February pollen drop and the first hot week in May, meant to get coils cleaned and drain lines cleared ahead of the rains.
  • Replacement incentives on efficient new Lennox equipment, typically around May and once more around October. That’s when the 2004-to-2008 equipment across World Golf Village, Murabella and St. Augustine Shores is deciding whether to survive another summer, and when the FPL instant rebate makes the total smallest.
  • Agreement sign-up specials, most often as hurricane season opens or in the week after a storm passes, when bayfront and Davis Shores owners want the post-surge inspection anyway.

This season’s list lives at the office

Which promotions are live this season, how much they’re worth and when they end is the office’s call, and it changes as the seasons do. [[CONFIRM WITH JERRY]]

Call 866-266-5709 and ask for it. Mention a replacement if that’s what you’re weighing; the incentives on new equipment are often larger than what gets printed. And if you’re a seasonal owner shutting a Crescent Beach or Vilano house for the summer, say that, since the pre-departure maintenance special exists for exactly that trip.

Three things an offer never changes

The work. A discounted tune-up runs the same checklist as a full-price one. A replacement with an incentive is sized, installed and registered exactly like one without.

The hours. Emergency service runs around the clock and a night call is invoiced like a day call, offer or no offer.

The honesty. An offer is never used to get a technician into a Lincolnville house and then talk the owner into a system it doesn’t need. If the repair is the right answer, the repair is what you’ll hear.

Offer questions from St. Johns County

Do you run specials specifically for St. Augustine, or the same ones everywhere?

The calendar is set by what breaks here and when, so a pre-pollen tune-up special or a post-storm inspection offer lands on St. Johns County dates. Whether a given promotion is market-specific or company-wide is decided by the office. [[CONFIRM WITH JERRY]]

Is there an offer tied to the FPL rebate?

FPL funds that rebate, not Cook’s, so it’s always available on qualifying equipment through a participating contractor. Any current Cook’s promotion would sit alongside it rather than replace it, and each appears as its own line on the proposal. [[CONFIRM WITH JERRY]]

How do I know an offer is real and not a low number that grows on the invoice?

Because it’s written on the quote before the work starts, with its end date, and the invoice matches the quote. If a repair uncovers something the quote didn’t cover, you hear about it before it’s done, not after.

I own three vacation rentals on the island. Is there a volume deal?

Multi-property owners and managers are common here, and a bundled maintenance arrangement is the kind of thing we can set up. The terms are the office’s to confirm. [[CONFIRM WITH JERRY]]
